Roof Flashing Installation

After your home has been properly shingled, it is time for the roof flashing installation. It is important that after this stage is completed, all of the roof flashing should be thoroughly inspected. 90% of your roof leaks are going to come from improper roof flashing installation, which is what makes this stage so critical. From this stage of construction forward, there should be no possible water infiltration into your home. At the time of roof flashing installation, you should carefully inspect all windows, doors, brick on wood, and roof flashing areas to make sure that they have been properly installed and will not leak. Refer to some of the detail sections available on this website to reference during this critical inspection. During the construction of your home, it is going to be your responsibility to make sure that windows are shut and locked daily, as well as shut immediately if their is a chance of rain. Also, whenever possible and as time permits, you should install the brick before you sheetrock to minimize the potential of water infiltration.

After the roof flashing installation, it is important for you to continue to monitor your home for potential water intrusions. If you do notice water leaks during the remaining stages of construction it is important for you to resolve the issues immediately to prevent further problems from occuring (i.e. mold!).
