Shingle Inspection
Checklist for Shingle Inspection
- During the installation process, your shingle inspection should include confirming that their are at least 4 nails or staples per shingle.
- 1/2″ overhang of shingle beyond the Fascia board.
- Your shingle inspection should identify a 5″ reveal on all shingles.
- Confirm during the shingle insepection that all shingles are installed square and plumb
- Confirm as best as possible during shingle inspection that staples or nails are not sticking up under shingles or countersunk through shingles.
- Confirm that the drip line is installed straight and square
- Confirm that the eyebrows are roofed and that shingles are tight under siding
- Also during the shingle inspection you should check the flashing, and confirm it is all properly installed.
- All dog ears should be cut off prior to shingle inspection
- Shingle inspection should identify that all shingles are laying down properly
- All scrap shingle material should be piled up in designated area. The house should also be swept clean by the contractor.
- Also confirm during the shingle inspection that the contractor has properly installed the attic vents
- If any roof leaks occur it is the roofers liability to repair the leak as well as any sub sequential damage.
- If their are any mud or footprints left on the roof he should clean them during the shingle inspection.
- At this time you should also schedule for any required city shingle inspections or if necessary bring in a third party to do a shingle inspection to help save you time and money as a result of faulty installation.
