- Sections must be balloon framed. Use of random length material is preferred to ensure story-height segments are interconnected. Framing straps (48″ length minimum) are a suitable substitute.
- If the chimney penetrates the roof, the opening must be framed on all sides by either header or trimmer blocking, as required (2×6 material minimum). Headers may be a single member as long as the length does note exceed 4 feet.

- The nearest portion of any chimney framing above the rafters must be offset at least 8″ from any valley
- Chimney height must extend 2 feet above the nearest portion of roof within 10 feet, but not less than 3 feet above the point where the chimney passes through the roof
- Minimum chimney cricket height in accordance with included diagrams. Brick clad chimneys require a cricket 12″ wider than chimney framing (6″ at each side) to accommodate brick veneer.
