Foundation Brickledge. Floating the forms is part of getting the foundation ready for proper framing, exterior stone and masonry work, ensuring protection against water penetration and termites, and a quality built home. During the process of building your own home, the time will come for the forms to be “floated” after the post tension cable installation is complete. It will be your formsetters responsibility for setting float boards in all the required areas as specified by the foundation plans that you have for your home. The foundation form float will set the float boards in the required areas of the foundation. These areas are typically the entry and other patios, brick ledges, raised entries, dropped areas, and garage floor slopes. During the form setting stage of construction the contractor might close the garage area in before installing the cables, or they may wait and secure the cables in the garage area at the time they install the brick ledges. Both methods are completely acceptable during foundation construction – as long as it takes place.
