- Any trees to be removed must have all roots taken out and the resulting hole back-filled and compacted with suitable fill dirt. Compaction must achieve a minimum 95% of standard proctor density.
- If trees are to remain on the property, care should be taken not to disturb the root system or understory within a radius of 4′ from the tree. Before the tractor man is allowed on the property, install a highly visible barricade around each affected tree.
- In tree areas, restrict the amount of new soil added atop existing soil to no more than 2 inches. The evapo-transpiration process necessary for tree survival is effectively halted when excessive fill and soil compaction occurs. If the area requires added fill to establish proper drainage consider tree removal.
- Mechanical or manual trenching for utility/irrigation installations should sidestep by reasonable distances.
- Never nail address/information boards to trees.
- Remove all tree debris from jobsite. Do not allow the use of burn pits or the burial of organic matter on the site.
